South Plaza Island | Day Tour From $335 | Galapagos
South Plazas Island is home of the hybrid Iguanas, a species born of a night of madness between a land and marine iguana. I can help you reserve a tour to South Plazas Island from $335.
South Plaza Island (Galapagos – Ecuador) was one of the last islands left for me to discover. The island has a contrasting cliff where birds engage in a power struggle.

HOW TO GET TO SOUTH PLAZAS ISLAND:
There are two ways to get to South Plazas Island in the Galapagos. First, on a Galapagos cruise that includes South Plaza Island in its itinerary. Second, by taking a day tour from Santa Cruz Island.
The trip to South Plazas combines with Carrion Point, where snorkeling is done. The vessel I offer combines with Santa Fe Island where snorkeling is done, as well as a landing. The yacht is a luxury yacht, it also combines with North Seymour Island.
TRIP ITINERARY:
The tour starts at Puerto Itabaca, but according to the operator they’ll pick you up at the hotel or they’ll let you know a meeting point. It takes an hour of navigation from the starting point from Itabaca canal to the South Plazas Island dock (jetty). It’s a dry landing so you can go down with the shoes on.
The island a loop trail that takes us from the coastal area to the cliff, to see the species that inhabit the island and contemplate the arid landscapes. The path is rocky and without any vegetation that produces shade, so bring sunscreen.
This small island of no more than 13 hectares is located on the southeast side of Santa Cruz Island. It is the place of nesting for the gulls of bifurcated tail, also home of terrestrial iguanas and colonies of sea lions. If you’re lucky, you’ll see hybrid iguanas.
A scientific restoration is being carried out on the island by planting a cactus seedling to reforest the land, since much of the cactus forest has disappeared due to the presence of iguanas that eat it.
The South Plazas tour is combined with an hour of snorkeling activities where you can observe the marine life that exists between the giant rocks, in the area called Punta Carrion.

PRICE OF TOUR
After all this time working with different operators that own yachts, I’ve noticed that the ones with cheaper prices receive the most complains. I highly recommend traveling to South Plazas Island tour on a luxury yacht.
DON’T WASTE ANY TIME!
