In the 21st century, one of the most touristic places in the world, the Galapagos Islands, deals with the worst internet connection possible: via Wi-fi. If you remember what it was like to live with dial-up internet connections, in Galapagos you will feel like you’ve gone back in time! The Internet at pretty much any hotel or restaurant is just as slow as it was in those days!
I strongly recommend that you take some time and separate a budget to buy a prepaid chip so that you’ll have decent Internet browsing on your smartphone.
On Santa Cruz Island, exactly between Av. Baltra and Av. Charles Binford, there is a CLARO telephone company office. There aren’t usually many customers, so the process to buy and activate your internet only takes between 5 to 20 minutes.
