Diving in the Galapagos is fascinating, many people miss out on having various types of sharks, sea turtles, manta rays, schools of fish, penguins, marine iguanas and other marine life nearby.

There are different ways to dive in Galapagos, one of them is through the cruises, which are allowed to go to the furthest islands: Wolf and Darwing. These islands are part of the marine sanctuary of the archipelago and because of their little contact with humans, marine life and fauna here is more abundant than in any other part of the Galapagos. They are inhabited by fur seals, frigates, masked and red-legged boobies, marine iguanas, sharks, whales, manta rays, dolphins and swallow-tailed gulls.

Chokotrip unlike Viator, Civitavis, GetYourGuide and other

When you book tours through ChokoTrip or ChokoTours, you`ll receive the names of the boats and operators, so you have security in your reservations. Many people believe that the policy on websites like Expedia, Viator, etc that allow you to cancel your tour 24 hours in advance are favorable however, it also means tour operators can cancel your tour 24 hours in advance, which happens frequently in Galapagos. This is not a risk when booking with us because we work directly with the local operators, which also allows us to keep our prices down. We dont take big commissions from the locals that the travel companies do so our prices are not inflated.

Galapagos diving tours

The other way to practice diving in the Galapagos, is through the daily diving tours. Each habitable Island has its diving places permitted by the National Park.

On Isla Isabela you can go snorkeling to the Tortuga Islet. From San Cristobal Island you can dive in the León Dormido. In the Española Island, you can also go night diving on the Sunken Ship and Tijeretas. On Santa Cruz Island, you can dive on the Seymour North Channel or on the Northeast Coast of Seymour, Mosquera North or South Mosquera, Daphne Minor and Gordon Rocks.

In most of these places you can only go diving if you have international diver credentials with certain number of dives. If you have never dived and want to do it, there is the Discovery tour, which gives you a theoretical training and then goes on with the practice, you can descend up to 10 meters.

The diving tour par excellence is the Gordon Rocks tour, but you must have at least 20 dives within 18 months, because the place is so busy it is only for experienced divers.

The reality of diving in the Galapagos is very safe, as long as you have the experience and above all you follow the instructions of the guide diver, even if you have hundreds of dives, the Galapagos has very strong ocean currents. Of course you will not find information about the divers who have disappeared diving in the Galapagos, but it has happened. That’s why I work with diving operators, whose priority is safety and enjoyment of diving.

Galapagos diving tours are not allowed to carry out activities that are carried out on daily tours in the Santa Cruz Islands or Isabela, the only island that combines diving with daily tour activities is on San Cristobal Island.
