This tour is ideal if you’d like to experience Galapagos wildlife in their natural habitat. Isla Lobos is found only 25 minutes by boat from San Cristobal. Upon arrival, you’ll make a dry landing and walk about 1 km to reach a location where you can observe blue-footed booby nests, two species of frigates (common and real).

How to get to Lobos Island
There are two ways to get to Lobos Island in the Galapagos. First, on a Galapagos cruise that includes the Island on its itinerary. Second, taking a tour from San Cristobal Island. If you travel on a cruise to Lobos Island, you will visit the same places as if you were traveling on a daily tour.

Trip itinerary
You’ll depart from the operator’s office at the designated time, it may be in the morning at 8:00 am or in the afternoon at 1:00 pm. If there aren’t enough tourists for these hours, the operator may consolidate the groups for a departure time at 9 am. Travelers are updated as needed.
Lobos Island, the nursery for sea lions
Lobos Island is also the nursery for sea lions.
Once you reach Lobos Island, you make a dry landing. Most of the hike will be on large volcanic rocks, and you’ll be able to observe colonies of sea lions (hence the name Lobos Island), probably around three alpha males caring for their pups and females.
In my opinion, Lobos Island is very similar to North Seymour Island, looks like a younger sister, since you will find many nesting frigate birds and blue-footed boobies. The only thing missing are land iguanas, which North Seymour Island has many of.
Family is family in Galapagos
Family is the most important thing on Lobos Island.
Once the hike is over, return to the yacht and head to Ochoa Beach for some snorkeling, or if you prefer, relax on the beach. Snorkeling is also a popular option in the Isla Lobos channel.
